STEM CELL DYNAMICS AND REGENERATION
Stem cells (and even differentiated cells!) have surprising degrees of plasticity. This plasticity allows them to adopt new fates and rebuild damaged tissues. Cells show characteristics of plasticity by responding to a change in their microenvironment, or in other words, their niche.
The Matunis lab combines genetics, live imaging, and genome-wide approaches to study the molecular signals that establish and maintain stem cell niches.
